Molly’s Shelfie Picks!
Rebecca Danzenbaker’s debut novel is YA dystopian romance at its finest.
Soulmatch takes place 200 years after WWIII in a world where reincarnation is a reality and past lives directly impact the present. On everyone’s 18th birthday they must undergo a government-mandated process called Kirling which reveals all of their former lives from the past 200 years. This can result in large inheritances or serious jail time depending on what occurred during each person’s former lives.
The novel follows 18 year-old Sivon as she undergoes her Kirling and the events that follow. She is terrified she will discover something horrible from a former life and end up with a life sentence in prison. She is also hopeful that she will find out she has a Soulmate and live happily ever after. The results of her Kirling shock the entire world.
Though published in 2025, this standalone novel gives 2010s dystopian love triangle and the vibes are immaculate. Soulmatch is perfect for fans of Divergent, Matched, Powerless, and the Selection.
