
The Mission of the Abbott Library Foundation is to support the continued growth and development of the Abbott Library, its resources, services, and facilities, so that the library remains a vibrant community-supported environment where people turn for the joy of reading, the discovery of ideas, and the power of knowledge. Such support is in addition to the direct budget process with the Town of Sunapee.
The Foundation has used donations and contributions to:
- Install railings between the first and second levels of the parking lot
- Build the new outside equipment shed
Purchased:
- The Honeycomb reading nook and shelving in our Children’s section
- Seating for our Teen area – beanbags and a couch
- Additional shelving for our Teen Collection
- Magazine display racks
- Additional storage for Youth Services staff items
- Picnic tables for outdoor patron seating
- Audio-Visual equipment, computers and monitors
The Abbott Library Foundation Board consists of a group of individuals who help raise funds and manage requests from the Library for items that are not funded by the operational budget. This helps keep the annual Town-approved budget reasonable but allows the Library to expand and improve its interaction with all the Library’s patrons (from pre-school to seniors).
The Foundation is seeking new members to join our team. The Foundation sends out an annual newsletter each December. The intent is to provide information to our community about Foundation updates, purchases, activities, and plans.
Gifts and Donations of any amount are welcomed and appreciated at any time throughout the year. The Abbott Library Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, so donations are tax-deductible, and you will be sent a Thank You note, which serves as a receipt for tax purposes.
Donations can also be made in memoriam or to honor someone special.
